Sequoia Park Zoo

Established in 1907, the zoo is the oldest in the state, and the largest on the California coast north of San Francisco.

Great fun for kids and adults
Spend a couple of hours or the day; there’s plenty to do and see at the Sequoia Park and Zoo. Stop in at the Gift Shop - Dine at the Zoo's Cafe, a snack bar and more (proceeds from the Gift Shop and Cafe go to support the zoo).

The Redwood Sky Walk
The Redwood Sky Walk is a self-guided interpretive experience designed to educate, inspire, and delight
visitors. Learn about the rich hidden ecology of the world’s tallest trees from an entirely new perspective. Please note, the Skywalk will be closed during inclement weather.  Please see the link above for current conditions and closures.

Children love the zoo barn and petting yard.

  • Primate habitats: Red panda habitat with bamboo forest and kid-friendly viewing area
  • An aviary & pink flamingos
  • Turtles & snakes
  • The children’s zoo barn and petting yard
  • New watershed play area, where children can explore a real watershed and learn about salmon. Includes a dramatic waterfall that recreates the natural cascades salmon must navigate to travel upstream and spawn. Clear walls on either side give visitors an intimate view into the underwater life of salmon and otters.

For nearly 100 years, Sequoia Park has been a community treasure. At the heart of the 67-acre park are the redwood trees. Developed trails, stairways, bridges and corduroy roads make this an easy adventure. Walk or bicycle the paths through the redwoods, a duck pond and two small creeks. Sequoia Creek Trail is a paved 3/4 mile wheelchair (and stroller) accessible trail heading west from the duck pond through the forest and meadows.

The park has picnic areas and two playgrounds. And of course a visit to the Sequoia Park and Zoo would not be complete without a stroll through the seasonal flower garden bursting with blooms, bees and hummingbirds. Drop a penny in the wishing well for good luck.

Dogs are allowed in redwood trails (not the zoo), on a leash.

Sequoia Park Zoo has events happening year round, so check out their calendar to see when special events are happening at the zoo.

Sequoia Park and Zoo is on W Street south of Harris Street. Access Harris from Hwy 101/Broadway at the Bayshore Mall, from H Street from Old Town, or from Myrtle Avenue via Harrison Street.
