Petrolia Guest House

A spacious guest house with a beautiful view

Also known as ‘The Lost Inn’, the Petrolia Guest House is located in the remote hamlet of Petrolia just five miles from the wilderness beaches of ‘the Lost Coast’ of  California. The popular ‘Lost Coast Hike’ north trail head begins here on the northern border of the Kings Range National Conservation Area.

We are one mile from the pristine Mattole River, that wends its way through the Mattole Valley watershed. The river affords visitors lovely swimming holes in the summer and fall, and catch and release fishing thru the winter months.
We offer a spacious suite of three rooms; a bedroom, sunroom and a glassed in kitchenette porch that overlooks a private garden with a pastoral view.
If you have a pet, we allow it to stay on the porch over nite. We are wheelchair friendly and have wi-fi available.
Some of our guests visit us touring on bikes or motorcycles since we are located on a scenic road loop, about 75 miles long (Rte. 211), between the Victorian village of Ferndale and Humboldt Redwoods State Park just off Hwy 101.
From San Francisco take Hwy 101 north to Humboldt Redwoods State Park,Honeydew, Founders Grove Exit No.663. Follow signs to Honeydew thru the redwood groves. Approximately 1 hour drive over mountain. At Honeydew take right to Petrolia (approximately 30 minutes down the river valley)

From Eureka take Hwy 101 south to Fernbridge/Ferndale exit. Take right at the first stop sign and right at the second stop sign over narrow bridge to Ferndale, Rte. 211 (10 minutes). Drive down Main St Ferndale to other end and take right at US Bank, drive two blocks to big overhead sign that reads: 'Capetown - Petrolia" take left up that road which is also known as The Wildcat and drive 1 hour to Petrolia.
