City of Eureka on Humboldt Bay

As the county seat of Humboldt County, the City of Eureka is the heart of the U.S. redwood coast. Eureka is the largest coastal city between San Francisco and Portland and a frequent stopover point for road trippers exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Culturally protected by the 'redwood curtain,' the city is most famous for its unique Victorian architecture, creative culture, one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants, and artisanal businesses. Offering fine and performing arts, larger than life murals, and a variety of exciting events, Eureka is designated a California Cultural District City for its passionate commitment to both local businesses and the local arts community.

The city offers just the right amount of energy and bustle.  But if you're feeling the need for green, you're minutes away from redwoods, hiking and biking trails, and water activities - all within the city limits.

Nature-lovers shouldn't miss the Eureka Waterfront Trail, offering over 6 miles of wildlife, recreation, and education along the shores of Humboldt Bay. To see Eureka's most iconic in-city redwood grove, visit Sequoia Park.  Ever wish you could climb a redwood? Coming soon, the Redwood Sky Walk will open inside Sequoia Park Zoo, offering a birds'-eye view of towering redwoods trees, lifting visitors over 100 feet off the forest floor.

Eureka is known for outstanding food, drink, and cannabis experiences in Humboldt County.  Start and end your day with local offerings from a long list of eateries, and after a day of exploring, rest your head at one of Eureka's iconic lodging options.
