Sequoia Park & Zoo and Cafe

Great fun for kids and adults

Spend a couple of hours or the day; there’s plenty to do and see at the Sequoia Park and Zoo.  Stop in at the Gift Shop - Dine at the Zoo's Cafe, a snack bar and more. (Proceeds from the Gift Shop and Cafe go to support the zoo)  Children love the zoo barn and petting yard.

Although the Zoo has been in operation since 1907 almost all of the various zoo habitats have been built or modified during the last twenty years.  It is situated on approximately 5 acres of level terrain northeast of the redwood ravines of Sequoia Park. The forest provides an impressive backdrop.

Here you will see:
  • A bear grotto
  • Primate habitats
  • An aviary & pink flamingos
  • An otter, turtles & snakes
  • The children’s zoo barn and petting yard
You may also visit the SECRETS OF THE FOREST exhibit located inside the new Entry Pavilion along with the new Zoo Gift Shop.   Inside, you will find beautiful images and fascinating information about our local forest habitats, along with interactive displays featuring the Humboldt Bay watershed, a fallen “nurse” log, the hidden world of the upper redwood canopy, a field biologist station, and more.

For nearly 100 years, Sequoia Park has been a community treasure. At the heart of the 77-acre park are the redwood trees.  Developed trails, stairways, bridges and corduroy roads make this an easy adventure.

The park has picnic areas, two playgrounds, and a duck pond, all at the edge of a redwood forest.

HOURS:
The zoo is open year-round Tuesday through Sunday
Summer hours - (May-September) 10am-7pm
Winter hours - (October-April) 10am-5pm
Barnyard, Aviary & Secrest of the forest hours are 10am-4pm

And of course a visit to the Sequoia Park and Zoo would not be complete without a stroll through the seasonal flower garden bursting with blooms, bees and hummingbirds. Drop a penny in the wishing well for good luck, and rest in the beautiful gazebo.

Playground with slides in the redwoods.
